Got back to the track menu and had a look at the track listing and found duplicates of all the tracks, but they started with "._ trackname" I finally erased the stick and put just a few songs on - put it back in the car and got the same 'Incompatible File' message, then a song started playing (result!!). The music was copying ok, but the iDrive (Non Nav) kept saying 'Incompatible File' and I couldn't get back to a list of the music on this stick without it flashing up 'Incompatible File' again. I have been trying to transfer music using iTunes on Mac OSX to a USB stick to play in the center console USB port.
